Back To The Past

The history of Hawaii may be seen as a story of arrivals - Susanna Moore

And what an arrival it was. I arrived not knowing if I had a place to stay on the first night of my journey. How did I goof before I'd even set off? While it sounds pretty idiotic, please hear me out.

I leave Busan on March 23rd. I fly to Beijing. I fly from Beijing on March 24th, at 1am. I land in Hawaii on March 23rd, at 4:30pm. Me being a nitwit, I saw the +1 on the flight itinerary and booked accordingly. Fortunately for me, I managed to scramble an email to the Polynesian Beach Hostel before entering China's Google curtain and they had it all sorted when I rocked up. A++.

You win again, time travel!

Speaking of time travel and having jack to do while waiting for my flight... dat segway though... a certain Samurai has returned to the big screen. You can find him on Adult Swim and the show, completely in line with all the expectations I had of it, is incredible. There's always the fear a rebirth of an old favourite will just be a gooey pile of nostalgia splooge (memba Samurai Jack? I memba!) but I'd argue it surpasses it's predecessors. Jack's grizzly, war-weary and just a bit unstable. He's lost his way. The team really recaptured the spirit of the old show and some of the sequences, like the cave reveal with the fireflies in episode 2, are majestic.

It's not often I find nothing to complain about.

Anyway. Water is wet. Hawaii is hot. Bed time!
